Lupines and Almonds: A success story

I recently filmed and produced a new video about Lupines and Almond Trees as a new part of my YouTube channel called “Israel Safari” (viewable below).

Unfortunately my filming session in the מצפתל – Mitzpetel nature spot was a bit of a downer as I learned that the beautiful green hill in the middle of Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood was scheduled for development. This unique opportunity to see Lupines and the various Jerusalem plants and animals was going to be bulldozed.

Imagine my surprise and happiness when I found out today that Jerusalem municipality is now planning to keep Mitzpetel as an urban nature reserve!

You can view my video here, but remember I need 1000 subscribers to monetize, I am an out of work Tour Guide and could do with this boost.

Spotlight on Nature: Latest Safari Map Update

I’ve been preparing for a new tour and part of this preparation has been mapping the wildlife in the southern suburbs of Jerusalem. My recent astounding sightings have been;

Graceful Prinia (bird)

Eurasian Jays

Kuhl’s Pipistrelle Bat

European Green Toad

Common Gazelle (!)

You can check regular updates on this map:

It was a wonderful experience seeing the gazelle at 5:30 am as the sun rose over the Jerusalem hills.  I’m going to be preparing this tour for the next few months, if your interested in booking me for a tour you can contact me here.
