Accommodation

Finding accommodation in Israel can be a daunting prospect. There are simply not enough hotel rooms in the country to accommodate  all tourists. Consequently you can find yourself paying well over $90 for a sub standard room. I’m going to list some of the best, swankiest hotels, but also some of the solutions that can help you cut your expenditures for your holiday.

My advice for cutting costs

One possibility is to look into the fantastic youth hostel network in Israel, which have basically become hotels in their own right. Be warned, some of them have started charging hotel prices.

Everybody wants a hotel in a major city, prices in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem can be astronomical, a hotel in Netanya, Ashkelon or Herziliya can be the same level of service and comfort, just a little bit cheaper.

Try looking for a B & B or self catering ‘Zimmer‘ in an outlying area, this is sometimes more of a ‘regional experience’ and ideal for someone into ‘off the beaten track’ tourism. I had a wonderful experience in Le Jardin d’Ein Kerem.

Holiday rental homes can slash the amount you spend on holiday, especially in Jerusalem where many of the holiday rental homes are in the restaurant districts, instead of paying exorbitant amounts of money for fairly standard hotel buffet breakfast and dinner you can eat out for much less money at a considerably high standard. Try out Jerusalem holiday homes for a local experience.

Make full use of online resources like Expedia and Booking.com.
